about

Tanjung Karang or sometimes spelled Tanjong Karang was originally named as Tanjung Kerang. It is located in the district of Kuala Selangor about 15 kilometers away from the town of Kuala Selangor. Tanjung Karang was represents as the most widely planted paddy area in Selangor after Kedah.

The history of Tanjung Karang began to be recorded in early of 1918, where settlers from Sumatra and Java started to explore and settled along the beaches. The first plantation that they planted to make money was oil palm. Unfortunately, due to the lack of  a proper drainage and irrigation system these areas were often flooded. In 1924, all the drainage and irrigation system was repaired by British which is in that time Selangor came under British colonisation.

Nowadays, Tanjung Karang became the main place for fishing and paddy growing area in Selangor. The majority of resident here were java malays followed by chinese and indians. They always live in peace even though they live together because they always maintained close relationship among themselves. Understanding between the races is one of the factors that contributes to the peace, love and harmony of Tanjung Karang.
